Six graduating Benson High seniors received $1,500 Alumni Association scholarships. Because of the pandemic, there wasn’t an official program.

This brings the total of scholarships awarded during the past  years to $181,000 and 164 recipients.

Alumni scholarships for the Class of 2020:

Aye Aye Nying, Charles “Chuck” Davey Memorial Scholarship. Aye Aye was the President of Student Council and a member of the National Honor Society.  She will be attending University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Amanda DeSantiago, Benson High Alumni Scholarship. Amanda was a member of the BHS Orchestra and the BHS News Staff. She will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Saw Kuang Min, William F. Nimtz Scholarship. Saw was a member of the National Honor Society, and the tennis and swim teams. He will be attending college at either the University of Nebraska-Omaha or the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

Brailynn Nero, Benson High Alumni Association/ Shane Graeve Family Scholarship. Brailynn was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, DECA, was the Editor in Chief of the Cupola, and played on the BHS softball team. She will be attending either the University of Nebraska-Lincoln or the University of Oklahoma.

Safia Mohamud, Benson High Alumni Scholarship. Safia was a member of the National Honor Society, the THRIVE Club and HOSA.  She will be attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha

Abigail Mefford, John C. McElhaney Memorial Music Scholarship. Abigail was a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the orchestra/band, a Student Ambassador, on the Cupola staff and a member of the Cheerleading team. She will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
