Alumni scholarships for the Class of 2026:
This year 11 seniors were awarded a record $21,000 in Benson Alumni Scholarships for their achievements during the 2025-26 school year. This brings the total of awarded scholarships to
215 since 1988 and the total amount to $253,500.
John McElhaney Memorial Music Scholarships:
Elijay Beasley will be attending UNO, majoring in music education. “I am a part of the Teacher Scholar Academy where I am guaranteed a position with the Omaha Public Schools and I plan to
teach high school band.”
Addison Gibson will be attending UNL, majoring in secondary education with a focus on math. She made the second round of auditions for the Cornhusker Marching Band’s Color Guard. “After I graduate college, my dream is to come back to Benson as a math teacher. I love the community Benson has and how so many of its students return to work there. I would also love to coach color
guard at Benson on the side, because choregraphing pep rally routines was always so fun.”
Ree Bar will be attending UNO, majoring in grassland ecology with plans to become a wildlife biologist focusing on prairies.
Benson High Endowment Scholarships:
Amina Gedo will be attending UNO, majoring in nursing. “After college, my goal is to be a pediatric nurse.”
Maung Myint will be attending UNO, majoring in aviation. “After college. my goal is to build a career in the aviation industry and work toward becoming a professional pilot. I am excited to
continue my education, develop my skills and pursue opportunities that will help me achieve my career goals.”
Graeve Family Scholarships:
Kylle Pagobo will be attending UNO, majoring in kinesiology with plans to attend P.T. school after undergrad and become a Physical Therapist.
Achol Mareng will be attending UNO, majoring in pre-nursing. “I plan to be a women’s nurse focusing on labor and delivery.”
Charles “Chuck” Davey Memorial Scholarship:
Gage Novak will be attending UNL, majoring in mechanical engineering with plans of finding a career in manufacturing automation.
William F. Nimtz Scholarship:
Krisha Gautam will be attending Metro Community College and then transfer to continue her education. “I plan to major in nursing. I hope to become a nurse and build experience helping and
caring for people while continuing to grow in my career.”
Jacqueline Snyder Pospisil Scholarship:
Hai Ner Hser will be attending UNO, majoring in aviation with plans to become an airline pilot after graduation. May be a flight instructor or fly small planes first to log hours needed to become
an airline pilot.
Sacks Family Scholarship:
Maya Apedjinou will be attending Grinnell College. Planning a double major of psychology & sociology with plans for a Ph.D.
