Biography: Was a record-setting athlete, longtime Omaha attorney and former District 66 school board member. He was the all-class gold medalist in the 120-yard high hurdles and the 200 low hurdles at the 1946 state track meet. His state record, running the 120-yard high hurdles in 14.6 seconds, stood until 1965. Berkshire earned four letters in track at the University of Nebraska before graduating in 1950. He graduated from the NU College of Law in 1955 and began private practice in Lincoln. By 1957, he was a U.S. assistant district attorney in Omaha. He returned to private practice in 1961 in Omaha. He was active in the Nebraska Bar Association and was president of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation. Berkshire was on the school board of District 66 from 1972 to 1984, twice as its president. He served in the Marines and was a 50-year member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club. Died in 2011.
