Bunnies Say Goodbye to Coach Knauss
Benson grads said goodbye in November to former coach and teacher Don Knauss, 77.
Knauss, Benson’s boys basketball coach from 1965 to 1981 and a teacher from 1965 to 1985, died recently. Knauss coached Dave Hoppen and other former Bunny greats during the ’70s and early ’80s before turning the reins over to former assistance Terry Shelsta.
Services were Nov. 6. Knauss, who later coached girl’s basketball at Omaha Central, was inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Foundation Hall of Fame in 2004.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
Stu,
Thank you for the nice article about Mr. Knauss. There are many things I remember from his psychology class, that I still think about and use today. He was one of those teachers that truly cared about his what he was teaching. I am grateful to have had him as a teacher.
Thanks again,
Stu
This is a very nice article on Coach Knauss. He was a tough coach. I never made it to the varsity level in Basketball, but he sure ran our butts off at the beginning of each season. I would come out of the football season thinking I was in shape, but Coach Knauss would show me otherwise. He had some great teams that were a testiment to his quality coaching.
Thanks Stu,
I played for him also and he taught me alot about basketball.. He will be missed!
